Thursday, January 23 from 6:30pm to 7:30pm in Ovid (Ovid Fire Hall on Brown Street)
With temperatures and snow falling, winter is a perfect time to enjoy hot, hearty soups at mealtimes. By making soups at home you can choose your ingredients for a healthier option that is highly nutritious and cost effective. To help you in doing this, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County is hosting 2 workshops, one in Waterloo at the CCE office on the third floor of the Main Street Shop Center on Wednesday, January 22 from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM and then the workshop will be repeated at the Ovid Fire Hall on Brown Street in Ovid on Thursday, January 23 from 6:30 PM-7:30 PM.
In this workshop, participants will:
- learn how to prepare homemade soups and stews from scratch, including making your own stock - learn recipes and ideas for both vegetarians and meat lovers as we discuss making soup in a slow cooker, pressure cooker, or stock pot - learn tips on how to safely can or freeze soups for later enjoyment - be served a bowl or two of soup for tasting - go home with recipes, nutrition information, and other materials
The cost is $15 for either class.
