Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H program will offer a Tractor and Machinery Safety Training program for youth ages 14-15.
This training program will enable young workers to obtain Hazardous Occupations Order in Agriculture (HOOA) certification, which is required to operate farm tractors and equipment. The program will provide attendees with the necessary 24 hours of instruction, and it will include group discussions, demonstrations, field trips, hands-on activities, independent study, and field assignments.
Upon completion of instruction, a written exam and driving test will be offered to achieve certification. The program is available to anyone 12 years of age and older, however only individuals 14 and older will be able to operate equipment and become certified. Individuals age 16 and over are encouraged to attend as well, although enrollment preference will be given to those ages 14-15.
The course size will be limited and may fill quickly. Materials fee of $20 will apply and will include a one year enrollment in Seneca County 4-H. Please contact Rachel Williams at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County, rrw33@cornell.edu or 315-539-9251 for more information.
