The 2019 Oswego County 4-H Spring Clinic will be held May 31 - June 2 at the Oswego County Fairgrounds in Sandy Creek. The weekend will begin early Friday evening and end around 4:00 pm on Sunday. This is a weekend full of educational activities, riding workshops, equestrian classes, food and fun. This is the ideal time to get to know and ride with other 4-H’ers from around Oswego County. Join us as we explore riding techniques, horse care, trail riding, gymkhana and much more. Whether you are a beginner rider or an experienced one, there will be classes for you to help you improve your own skills. This weekend is also open to individuals that are unable to bring a horse. There are non-riding classes and plenty of opportunities to observe and learn. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to learn and expand your horse knowledge.
Sunday, June 2nd will be the Clinic’s Fun Horse Show. This will be an excellent opportunity to show off some of the techniques you learned on Saturday, help get ready for the upcoming show season as well as have a great time participating in the fun classes. The class list will be sent following registration.
All registrations with money are due to the office by May 20 and will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis. REGISTER EARLY – there are only 36 stalls for horses. The cost for the weekend is $30.00 per person (each chaperone must also pay). If you are unable to attend the entire weekend, you may attend the clinics on Saturday, with or without your horse. Each youth needs to have a designated chaperone on site at all times during the day and at night. More details, risk forms, permission slips and workshop sign-ups will be sent out following registration. If you have questions, please call the office at 315-963-7286.
All horses must have a negative coggins and rabies certificate available on site. Horses must be vaccinated for rabies at least 14 days before the clinic (no later than May 18th). Your current ownership papers must be on file at the 4-H office by the May 1st deadline. Current rider evaluations are also required. If you do not have a current evaluation on file at the 4-H office, or are changing your riding level or horse, evaluations will be done Friday evening before the event.
