About the Edward W. Cahill Memorial Park revitalization project:
Join the ReLeaf Region 1 Monthly Meeting as we discuss the importance of trees in environmental justice areas and how some communities that fall under that definition via state or federal indicators approach trees and plan to improve or expand their urban forest canopy.
During this meeting we will be discussing an environmental justice identified community, Village of Valley Stream, that plans to revitalize their community most impacted by environmental justice impacts through a project that will combine state-of-the-art and innovative solutions as well as familiar green infrastructure and practices to reach their goals. We will meet at Edward W. Cahill Memorial Park in Valley Stream where David Sabatino, the Deputy Village Treasurer for the Village of Valley Stream, will discuss future plans for this park and the process of planning a project of this caliber as well as discuss its purpose and the unique challenges and triumphs community revitalization projects tend to face.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs as there is currently no seating within the park.
