Pruning & Training Young Fruit Trees

Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County will be holding a fruit tree pruning workshop at the Extension Learning Farm on Saturday, March 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The instructor for this class will be Don O’Shea, Cornell Master Gardner Volunteer, Cornell Master Forest Owner Volunteer, and longtime fruit tree producer and grower.

Sign-in will be in the back classroom at 9:30 a.m.

There will be a presentation on general tree care, pruning and training, and the proper care and maintenance specific to fruit trees, with an emphasis on helping them through their early years after transplanting. An overview on tools and equipment needed will also be covered. The remainder of the workshop will take place in the new orchard on Extension property with some hands-on training. Please be prepared to be outside for the last part of the workshop, gloves are recommended. The class size is limited, so please register early to insure a space in the workshop.

Please avoid wearing fragranced products to avoid triggering allergies, asthma and migraines in others attending the programs. Thank you!
