Food Preservation Workshop – Tomatoes!

Juicy, ripe tomatoes are still hanging on the vines and are at the peak of flavor and freshness.  Whether you grew tomatoes in your garden this year or source some from a local farmer, now is the time to preserve that peak tomato flavor to enjoy later in the year.

Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension (SCCCE) is offering a Food Preservation Workshop led by Master Food Preservers to show you how to can tomatoes, freeze tomatoes, and dry them to enjoy all winter long.  The class will be held in-person and limited to ten people, so that social distancing can be maintained.  Masks are required. The workshop will be held at the SCCCE office on the 3rd floor of the Main Street Shop Centre in Waterloo.

Come learn the science behind canning, freezing and dehydrating tomatoes. You will learn the best techniques to preserving the flavor of local tomatoes to enjoy throughout the year.

The registration fee is $10, which includes recipes, a hands-on demonstration and materials to bring home.

In order to participate, an Assumption of Risk Form will need to be signed. We will email you an electronic copy once registered. The form can be filled out right from your computer and will automatically be sent back to us once complete.
