Tour several different maple sugar producers' houses located in Yates and Ontario counties! These producers feature operations ranging from 2,000-6,000 taps and include both wood and oil-based firing, steam-aways, diatomaceous filter presses, reverse-osmosis sap treatment, and both retail and wholesale sales.
Visits will feature time for observation and discussion.
Tour starts at the Mahholn and Emma Hoover Farm, Pultney Rd, Italy. Other visits currently include the Steve and Laura Finnan operation's brand-new sugarhouse operation at Brink Hill Rd., Italy, and the Garry and Bobbi Wohlschlegel's Wohlschlegel's Naples Maple Farm, Coates Road., Naples. Other local sites may be included.
The tour starts at 9 a.m. at the Hoover Farm. Please plan for about 10 minutes of travel between sites. The total tour time will be about four hours. Please pre-register. Indicate if you need carpooling if available.
