Virtual Harmful Algal Blooms & Invasive Mussels

Harmful Algal Blooms and Invasive Mussels - What’s the Connection?

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Seneca County, Seneca County Soil & Water Conservation District and Seneca County Farm Bureau as they host a VIRTUAL community conversation about harmful algal blooms and invasive mussels on Tuesday, June 16th from 7 to 8:30pm.

Dr. Kim Schulz, Associate Professor of Environmental and Forest Biology, at SUNY ESF has been surveying Owasco Lake and other Finger Lakes for invasive species - specifically Quagga Mussels.

Research is beginning to reveal a possible association between the increase in the occurrence of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and the Quagga Mussel’s ability to excrete phosphorus.

Come learn more about the results of Dr. Schulz’s research and underwater survey on how this invasive species may be impacting our lakes.

The Zoom link and password will be provided once you are registered.
