Grafting is a time-honored method to effectively increase the variety and yield of established apple trees without needing space for additional trees. Food security is a serious issue today, with heirloom varieties disappearing from the market. Grafting is a way to preserve diversity. Join the Rochester Folk Art Guild’s David Barnet and Caroline Boutard-Hunt from Cornell Cooperative Extension for a safe and interactive workshop teaching you the art and science behind bud grafting, with plenty of time for hands-on practice. Scion wood will be available to purchase to take home and try your hand on your own trees! Participation is limited, face coverings are required, and the workshop will be held outside in order to keep this in-person workshop as safe as possible.
Cost: Pay as you can sliding scale $0-$30 per person
Date: Saturday, April 17th
Time: 10am-12pm
Location: The Guild's orchards, 1445 Upper Hill Road, Middlesex.
