Join us for our 2022 Continuing Education For Arborists Workshops
Fee is $40 per online workshop or a discounted rate of $225 for all 6 workshops.
Online workshops are every Wednesday from 7:00pm to 8:00pm starting November 2nd and ending December 7th.
CEU Credits for the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) have been requested for each online workshop. DEC Pesticide and Landscape Architect (LA) CEU credits have been requested for select workshops and is annotated in the course description.
Participants that attend all of the online workshops will receive a Certificate of Completion for this Urban Forestry Education Series. A Certificate of Attendance can be provided for each of the online workshops as requested.
GIS Services and Other Technology to Support Field Work Speaker: Davey Resource Group Wednesday, November 2, 2022 7:00 – 8:00pm
During this presentation, attendees will learn about technological advances within the industry that can support Field Work and tree planting and inventory initiatives. This includes software programs such as ArcGIS, iTree Tools, useful applications and other advanced technologies.

Innovations in Tree Planting Speaker: Vincent Drzewucki, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County Wednesday, November 9, 2022 7:00 – 8:00pm
We all have experience planting trees, but during this session, attendees will explore useful tips and innovative techniques that can support tree planting projects and improve efficiency and long-term survival of tree specimens. Some of these topics will include the benefits of Bare-Root Planting Methods, CU-Structural Soil, watering schedules and methods and other tips and concepts.

Virtually every few months, there seems to be a new invasive pest or disease that wreaks havoc on our Urban Forest. In this presentation, Cornell University researchers will cover trends in tree pests and problems and what to look out for in 2023.

In this presentation, attendees will learn about this history of the American Chestnut throughout the Northeast and its presence on Long Island.

Quality Tree Species for Long Island Speaker: Vincent Drzewucki, Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County Wednesday, December 7, 2022 7:00 – 8:00pm
Picking out tree species for a tree planting project can be challenging. This presentation will focus on tree species that are ideal for the Long Island environment that span the variety of historical and exemplary native species, uncommon ideal tree species to plant and alternative species to plant based on certain interests and parameters.
