Canning with Ann: Learning to Preserve Your Poultry and Meats Tuesday Oct 18th 5:30-7:30pm
Join Master Preserver Ann Supa for a live-virtual, hands-on, meat and poultry preservation training on Tuesday October 18th at Cornell Cooperative Extension – Broome County. We will discuss the various methods for safely preserving meat from hunting, farm raised poultry, or when you find that sale at the grocery store. Ann will guide us through the process for making jerky using a dehydrator as well as canning stew meat. Those who attend in-person will be able to bring home what they learn to make. Those looking to attend virtually will be sent a supply list the week prior in order to gather all the necessary supplies to cook alongside Ann. All attendees will receive a cookbook – “Canning Meat for Beginners 2022” as well as a pre-packaged spice mix which can be used in the future for meat preservation. Priority for spots will be given to veterans residing in Broome County and there will be no fee for veterans to attend. Civilians may attend for $25 and will receive the cookbook and spice mix. Please use the registration link to register and indicate your preference for attendance – in-person versus virtual. There will be a cap on in-person registration at 12 registrants so please register early. Payment is required at time of registration. There will be no refunds issued due to supplies being purchased based on registration numbers one week out. Questions can be directed to Laura Biasillo at lw257@cornell.edu.
