CCE Onondaga Youth Tractor Safety Course

The Hazardous Occupation in Agriculture Law requires that youth ages 14-15 must have at least 24 hours of tractor safety and maintenance instruction and become certified in order to drive a tractor on a farm other than that owned by their parents.

Onondaga CCE will be conducting a Tractor Safety Certification Course for Youth in May 2018 to fulfill these requirements. This course will cover many components of agriculture safety. Classes will be held Wednesday evenings as follows: May 2nd, May 9th, May 16th, May 23rd and May 30th. The certification exams will be given on Wednesday June 6th. The classes will be held from      5 – 9 pm at a variety of host locations including local farms and Cazenovia Equipment Company.  Class members seeking certification are required to attend all of the classes and actively participate and pass written and tractor operation tests to successfully complete the program. Class fee is $25 which includes the training manual.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is required.

Enrollment is required before the first session which will be held Wednesday May 2nd at Abbott Farms, 3275 Cold Springs Road, Baldwinsville, NY 13027, 5 – 9 pm. Participants will be provided a complete schedule at this May 2nd session.
