Rockland County 4-H Veterinary Science Career Exploration Program

Explore veterinary careers and develop skills with experienced animal professionals!

When: Mondays, October 4 - December 6, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Where: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County (10 Patriot Hills Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980)
Who: High School Students
Cost: $125  (Financial Assistance is available to those with demonstrated need)

Tentative Schedule:

  • October 4: Introduction to Veterinary Medicine
  • October 18: Animal Care and Shelter Management
  • October 25: Emergency Care
  • November 1: Veterinary Skills (Session at Rockland BOCES Career & Technical Center)
  • Saturday, November 6, 11:00am - 1:00pm: Horse Care and Rehabilitation (Session at Bergen County Horse Rescue)
  • November 8: Cat Care & Handling
  • November 15: Anatomy & Physiology / Heart Dissection
  • November 22, 6:00pm-8:00pm: Case Studies in Veterinary Medicine / Animal Dissection
  • November 29: "A Day in the Life" of a Veterinarian
  • December 6: College and Career Panel
