Tick Awareness Workshop

Lyme disease along with several other tick borne diseases, are increasing in New York through an increase in tick numbers and humans coming in contact with them. On May 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County will be hosting a Tick Awareness Workshop at 840 Front Street, Binghamton, NY.

Judy Wright, Agriculture Extension Educator, will provide a presentation focused on tick habitat, their biology and control. The Broome County department of health officials will also be there to provide educational information about health education and prevention. The overall goal of the Don’t Get Ticked workshop is to help keep people and their companion animals from being bitten by a tick. The cost of the workshop is $10 per person and everyone that attends will receive a tick kit.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Broome County wants to provide awareness to increase public awareness of ticks and the diseases they may carry along with their management in the southern tier.
