Pressure Canning for Beginners

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Madison County will host a Pressure Canning for Beginners Class, September 22, 2021, from 6-8pm. Whether you're preserving your own harvest, or you've purchased locally grown fruits or vegetables, canning can be an effective way to serve foods that taste harvest-fresh at a later date. To ensure that the products you serve are safe, it is important to follow tested guidelines for safely preserving foods.

Our colleague Betty Clark, SNAP-Ed Team leader, and Cornell Certified Master Food Preserver from CCE-Chenango will be teaching the class in the AG Center at the CCE Madison office, 100 Eaton Street, Morrisville, NY 13408. No experience necessary. Come, learn the procedures for safely canning low-acid foods, such as vegetables, in a pressure canner. Includes a demonstration and hands on experience canning green beans.

For more information, please contact Megan Henderson, Ag Subject Educator, at meh363@cornell.edu, or 315-684-3001 ext. 126. For the most up to date information on our programs follow us on Facebook at CCEMadison. Coming up in October, Pressure Canning Meat for Beginners. Stay tuned!

Masks are required at this event and social distancing will be observed.
