Planting with Purpose!

** Please only one registration per family. **

After seeing the response to this program in Tompkins County… we thought we would give it a try here in Madison County!

Planting with Purpose! Growing your Virus Time Victory Garden

We’ve raided the seed supply and we have enough to make about 40 bags of seeds to give away!

Each Virus Time Victory Garden Bundle contains 5-6 packets of assorted veggies, placed in paper bags. All bags are the same. The prepared bundles will be mailed to you after you have registered for them here: https://reg.cce.cornell.edu/PlantingWithPurpose_225

We will host several ongoing workshops and do some follow up check ins throughout the growing season! This is targeted towards new and beginning growers.

Since we are limited on seeds, please consider splitting your seed packets with your friends, family or a neighbor or sharing the plants you grow. A single packet of seeds is enough to grow dozens and dozens of plants, usually far more than a single family can use. If you decide to share the seeds, please be sure to adhere to the rules of social distancing that are in place.

Preparation & Safety Concerns:
The seed bundles themselves were handled in ways designed to minimize spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The seed packets came from a source that has not been handled by the general public. All surfaces in the room where the bundles were packed were disinfected, and the person who handled the packets washed their hands thoroughly and used hand sanitizer frequently throughout the bundling process.

Reading Your Seed Packets:
There are several websites that can help beginning gardeners who are unfamiliar with seed packet information and instructions. Visit https://gardenerspath.com/how-to/beginners/backs-seed-packets-display-valuable-information-gardener/ or https://www.veggiegardener.com/how-to-read-seed-packet/

Did you Grow too much? Consider helping out your communities by donating excess produce to family, friends or a local food pantry. Check with these folks first to make sure they are accepting items, and be sure to follow all rules and regulations put in place here in NY.

We will give preference to Madison County Families first, then families outside of Madison County after. Thank you for your understanding!
