Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Oneida County, in cooperation with Oneida County, has been allowed to create an experiential training facility for aspiring farmers who face business start-up barriers and limited resources.
The Oneida County Urban Farm Learning Lab @ Union Station will be located in the Rail Express Agency (REA) wing at historic Union Station, in Utica, NY.
The Learning Lab will provide aspiring urban farmers a place to get their hands in the soil while assisting in helping manage risks in the areas of production, market development, and business planning.
Sessions begin June 12th and end August 21st. We will have dedicated hours for participants to come work and care for the learning lab during the week if they choose. Sessions will run Saturdays twice a month from 9:30 - 12:30.
Session Dates:
June 12, 2021 – Introduction to Urban Agriculture
June 19, 2021 – Creating a business plan
July 10, 2021 – Growing for success
July 24, 2021 – Production is key
