Young Explorers Nature Hike

Young Explorers Nature Hike

Discover nature, make new friends, and have fun!

On these exploratory hikes, we will be looking at various forms of life in the forest, from plants and trees to birds and bugs. We will learn about the delicate ecosystem in which the forest exists and how various life forms interact and depend on each other for their survival.

Where: We will meet at the CCE Office (10 Patriot Hills Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980) at 9:15am to sign in, answer health-screening questions, and submit paperwork. After signing in, we will caravan to the trailhead. The exact hike location will depend on the local conditions.
When: Sunday, November 22, 9:15am - 11:00am
Who: Youth ages 8-18. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to explore the park on their own while the youth are involved in the program.
Cost: $5 per participant

COVID-19 Precautions: To protect participants, we will be following all statewide guidelines identified by NY Forward including, but not limited to, maintaining 6 ft. of distance at all times, wearing facemasks, and having hand sanitizer available. A full list of guidelines will be provided to all participants prior to the hike.

About the Hike Leader: Jeff Solomon is an avid nature lover and hiker who has hiked extensively in Harriman State Park. As a former middle school teacher and director of nature and pioneering programs at various summer camps, Jeff has a great deal of experience working in an educational and recreational capacity with youth and has led countless nature hikes. Jeff is also the founder of the National Camp Association, which is a children's summer camp organization.
