A 3-day training for those who'd like to go beyond the basics of home food preservation - either for your own use or to help others learn how to safely preserve food. While learning the safest, research based methods, participants will learn the science of food preservation including food safety. Participants will also gain hands-on experience with:
- Boiling water bath canning
- Steam canning
- Pressure canning
- Jelled products
- Quick pickling
- Observe demonstrations of freezing, drying, & fermentation
After completion of the 3-day program, participants will take an exam to receive a certificate of completion. To become a Master Food Preserver, participants will be asked to complete 30-40 volunteer hours to demonstrate expertise in various aspects of food preservation. It's highly recommended to coordinate with your local Cornell Cooperative Extension to gain those volunteer hours - especially in Livingston, where this event is hosted!

- $250 - Resident outside of Livingston County
Two scholarships will be awarded to individuals who demonstrate the need for financial assistance to attend this workshop. Preference will be given to those who:
