Lansing Youth Services is enrolling for Summer Skies 2022 programs!
These programs are open to youth in 5th through 8th grade and will follow CDC and NYS Guidelines.
Most programs will be held at Myers Park Pavilions with Lansing's Program Manager, Travis.- please pay close attention to location details. Pick up will be at drop off location, unless another location is indicated.
Program fee is $40 for each week, however no one will be turned away due to inability to pay.
Cardboard Boat Builders- July 5 - July 8. 9:00am to 4:00pm, Myers Park. Like to design and build things? This is your chance! We will be designing, building, and floating our cardboard boats, and yes, they WILL float a human!
Lake Life- July 11 – July 14. 9:00am to 4:00pm, Myers Park, Ithaca Farmer’s Market
Lake Life is all about enjoying the summer sun and Cayuga Lake! Come enjoy life on the lake as we play yard games, create arts and crafts, make scavenger hunts, make your own screen print, and take advantage of Myers Park and all it has to offer! *Tuesday, July 12, we will meet at the Ithaca Farmer’s Market for a trip on The Floating Classroom*
Martial Arts- July 19 - July 21. 9:00am to 4:00pm, *Meet at Ithaca Farmer’s Market*
Come learn about the history of martial arts, and get to learn some basics skills in self-defense, martial arts, and even parkour!
Iron Chef- July 25 - July 28. 9:00am to 4:00pm Myers Park, 4-H Acres
Come test your cooking skills and learn some fresh, healthy recipes! Wednesday and Thursday will meet at 4-H Acres and partake in a cooking competition along with another RYS group!
D.I.Y. Summer Edition - August 1 - August 4. 9:00am to 4:00pm, Myers Park
Do It Yourself Summer Edition will provide individual and group projects, repurposing materials, natural arts and crafts and maybe even a forge! Come learn new skills and make something new!
Camping at Arnot- August 8 to August 10.
Let's get camping! Join us as we venture to Arnot Forest and spend two nights under the stars (or tent). There will be another paper permission form with additional information, please contact Travis for more details!
Get Lost- August 22 to August 25. 9:00am to 3:30pm. Lansing Middle School/ Hammond Hill State Forest
This program will meet at the Lansing Middle School and travel by CCE Van to Hammond Hill. We will be practicing backcountry navigation, use a map and compass, and practice survival and naturalist skills in Hammond Hill State Forest.
Sky’s The Limit- August 29 - September 1. 9:00am to 4:00pm Lansing Middle School
Lots of awesome trips to flight related places, like the Cornell lab of Ornithology, Ithaca Airport, Cornell Space Sciences, and the National Soaring Museum in Big Flats. Rocket launches are also on the list!
