Handling Livestock Safely Workshop
Saturday, April 30, 2022 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at Wild Geese Farm in Franklinville, NY.

CCE Allegany County is offering aspiring, beginning and transitioning farmers a training focused on understanding how to work with livestock. This workshop, a blend of hand-on activities, and interactive classroom instruction will cover safe handling, restraints, and transportation; helping producers enhance knowledge and skills to work in safety with livestock.

What to bring: We will be working with livestock so please bring clothing that you don't mind getting dirty in. We ask that you clean any coveralls or outerwear that you may have used in or around livestock and poultry as well as bringing footwear that can be cleaned and sanitized for biosecurity purposes. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Accommodations are available for service animals. Please inform us of your needs. There may be some limitations to assure safety of participants, service animals and livestock.

The funding support for this workshop comes from the FarmOps program at Cornell University and targets active service members & military veterans only who reside in NY or NJ. Registration is limited to 25, 15 spots will be reserved for Veterans at no charge. Fee for civilian participants is $20.
