Rockland County 4-H Presents: Beginner Dog Training for Youth
About the program: This foundation training class employs positive training methods that reward desirable behaviors to help your dog learn in a humane way. These methods foster a trusting and closer bond between owners and their dogs.
Learn from a professional dog trainer:
- Canine body language and how it can help you to understand what your dog is saying to you.
- How to communicate clearly with your dog through the use of a reward marker.
- How to teach your dog to pay Attention to you, Come when called, Sit, Down, Stand, and Walk Politely on a leash.
Dates: Saturdays, May 1, 8, 15, 22
Time: Group 1: 10:00am - 11:00am or Group 2: 11:30am - 12:30pm
Where: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rockland County (10 Patriot Hills Drive, Stony Point, NY 10980)
Who: Youth ages 8-18. For youth safety, youth ages 13 and under need to be accompanied by a parent/guardian. We recommend that all parents/guardians stay for the program.
Cost: $80 per youth participant. Financial Assistance is available for those with demonstrated need. Registration is limited to 6 youth per group. Registration and payment are required to reserve your space.

COVID-19 Precautions: To protect participants, we will be following all statewide guidelines identified by NY Forward including, but not limited to, maintaining 6 ft. of distance at all times, wearing facemasks, and having hand sanitizer available. A full list of guidelines will be provided to all participants prior to the session.
