About Dog Showmanship: New York State 4-H and the American Kennel Club (AKC) offer opportunities for youth to show their dog handling skills, which can help youth develop life-long skills including responsibility, patience, sportsmanship, and self-confidence. The showmanship competitions focus on the handler, not the dog's conformation or purebred status, so rescued dogs and mixed breeds are welcome! To learn more, go to the NYS 4-H Dog Program website at http://4h.ansci.cornell.edu/animal-programs/dogs/ or visit the AKC Junior Showmanship website at https://www.akc.org/sports/conformation/junior-showmanship/.
COVID-19 Precautions: To protect participants, we will be following all statewide guidelines identified by NY Forward including, but not limited to, maintaining 6 ft. of distance at all times, wearing facemasks, and having hand sanitizer available. A full list of guidelines will be provided to all participants prior to the session.
