- See General Rules of the Department Section. - See Animal Health Requirements for Admission to New York State and County Fairs Section - ENTRY FORMS DUE JUNE 15th. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. - Only 2 entries per class per exhibitor, 2nd animal must be shown by another 4-Her. - Livestock must meet standards for Conduct of Fairs, Livestock Health Requirements, and General Rules of the Department. - Animals must be registered in the exhibitor’s name exclusively by JUNE 1st of the current year, if papers have been applied for by not received, proof of application can be used. - 4-Hers “leasing” must have completed NYS 4-H non-ownership certificate by JUNE 1ST - Signs/displays must indicate that the animal is exhibited by Youth. EX: “4-H”, “Clover” - 4-H Members must SHOW, FIT and TAKE CARE of their OWN Animal. - All livestock must be in place by noon on Tuesday unless noted otherwise. - All animals MUST be checked by State Veterinarian BEFORE entering the barns or tents. - Each exhibitor is expected to provide their own stalls and feed. - Animals will be Judged on the Danish System – Excellent, Good and Worthy - Market hogs (barrows or gilts) will be judged as hogs ready for slaughter at time of showing. - Gilts entered in breeding classes may not be shown in market classes. - All Swine should have two forms of identification, RFID and one of the following ear notches tattoo or ear tag.
4-H HERDSMENSHIP All 4-H exhibiting at the fair will be automatically judged on Herdsmanship. (See Section B1) AWARD: CASH PRIZE
SWINE FITTING AND SHOWMANSHIP Fitting and Showmanship is required for all 4-H swine exhibitors. The judge will consider: (a) preparation of the animal for showing, (b) showing the animal, (c) appearance of exhibitor. Anticipated Awards: Excellent Good
