Boonville County Fair 4-H Goat Show
Show will be Saturday July 27th at 9am in the Show Tent

- See General Rules of the Department Section.

- ENTRY FORMS DUE JUNE 15th. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- Only 2 entries per class per exhibitor, 2nd animal must be shown by another 4-Her.
- Livestock must meet standards for Conduct of Fairs, Livestock Health Requirements, and General Rules of the Department.
- Animals must be registered in the exhibitor’s name exclusively by JUNE 1st of the current year, if papers have been applied for by not received, proof of application can be used.
- 4-Hers “leasing” must have completed NYS 4-H non-ownership certificate by JUNE 1ST
- Signs/displays must indicate that the animal is exhibited by Youth. EX: “4-H”, “Clover”
- 4-H Members must SHOW, FIT and TAKE CARE of their OWN Animal.
- All livestock must be in place by noon on Tuesday unless noted otherwise.
- All animals MUST be checked by State Veterinarian BEFORE entering the barns or tents.
- White Pants and White Shirt Mandatory for Showmanship.
- Animals will be Judged on the Danish System – Excellent, Good and Worthy
- Dairy Goats with horns WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO SHOW.
- Meat goats will be allowed to show with horns under the following conditions:
       -  All meat goats with horns over 4 inches in length must be tipped. Options are: Filing or cutting off tips, taping the tips with duct tape so they are blunted, or securely taping a tennis ball on the tip. No exceptions. If a meat goat arrives at the fairgrounds with horns over 4 inches un-tipped, it will be sent home immediately.
- Pen spaces will be assigned. Do not pen your goats until you know your pen space.
- Exhibitors must clean the area used for housing the goats and assist with pen cleanup prior to removing the animal from the fairgrounds.
- Tattoos must be readable. Goats with unreadable tattoos will not be allowed in the show.
 
NO EXCEPTIONS. If meat goat arrives at the fairgrounds without the horns tipped, they will be sent home immediately.
 
4-H HERDSMENSHIP
All 4-H exhibiting at the fair will be automatically judged on Herdsmanship.

AWARD: CASH PRIZE

GOAT FITTING AND SHOWMANSHIP
Fitting and Showmanship is required for all 4-H goat exhibitors. The judge will consider: (a) preparation of the animal for showing, (b) showing the animal, (c) appearance of exhibitor.
Anticipated Awards: Excellent Good
