Boonville County 4-H Rabbit and Cavy Show

- See General Rules of the Department Section. - See Animal Health Requirements for Admission to New York State and County Fairs Section - ENTRY FORMS DUE JUNE 15th. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED. - Only 2 entries per class per exhibitor, Maximum of 10 Animals per Exhibitor. - Livestock must meet standards for Conduct of Fairs, Livestock Health Requirements, and General Rules of the Department. - Animals must be owned by the exhibitor exclusively by JUNE 1st of the current year - Signs/displays must indicate that the animal is exhibited by Youth. EX: “4-H”, “Clover” - 4-H Members must SHOW, FIT and TAKE CARE of their OWN Animal. - All animals MUST be checked by State Veterinarian BEFORE entering the barns or tents. - Each exhibitor should bring their own cage if possible - Either a white long sleeved shirt with a collar or a lab coat of any color must be worn. - Animals will be Judged on the Danish System – Excellent, Good and Worthy - Decisions of the Judge are Final. - Changing of entered breeds the day of the show will not be permitted. - All exhibitors, (excluding Cloverbuds) will be responsible for carrying their own rabbits to and from the judging table. NO PARENTS will be allowed to carry them. - Rabbits must be at least 3 months old before being shown. - Rabbit judging of standard breeds will be a combination of American Rabbit - Breeders Association’s standard of perfection purebreds with disqualifications from the classes who receive blue ribbons will not be eligible for State Fair. - Each rabbit MUST HAVE A PERMANENT EAR NUMBER IN THE LEFT EAR. Rabbits that arrive without an ear number will NOT be permitted to be shown. (Permanent Marker is acceptable at the county level)
RABBIT/CAVY SHOWMANSHIP
Showmanship is required by all 4-H Rabbit/Cavy exhibitors. Showmanship will be judged based on the ARBA junior showmanship guidelines. Exhibitors must choose one animal for showmanship.
