Jefferson County 4-H Summer Programming (led by 4-H Educators)
4-H Summer Reading Fun!
Open to youth entering K-5th that are enrolled in the Jefferson County 4-H program and at the following schools – Indian River, Watertown, Gouverneur, Beaver River, Copenhagen, LaFargeville and Belleville Henderson.
Welcome to 4-H Summer Reading Fun! Jump into summer with our five week interactive storytelling adventure, where we will be exploring the world of reading through the Scholastic 7 Strengths. Over the course of five weeks, we will be learning about curiosity, courage, friendship, belonging, confidence, hope, and kindness through the eyes of some of our new favorite characters. Each week, we will host two virtual sessions for kids to join us in a thrilling discussion revolving around our topic of the week! These sessions will take place on Tuesday and Thursday. Kids are encouraged to attend one of these sessions every week and fill out their reading log daily. Those who log and submit 30 hours of independent reading will have the chance to go on a free field trip during the 2021-22 academic school year! This is at no cost, and books will be given to the participating youth. Youth will receive a welcome letter and information via postal mail.
