Summer 2024 4-H CSA

2024 4-H Summer CSA operated by CCE Nassau

Who We Are:

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County (CCE Nassau) provides educational programming and direct support to the local community in many components of the food system, including production, access, marketing and promotion of locally produced food, and food literacy. CCE Nassau dedicates more than 20 staff and 100 trained volunteers to food systems work, who in turn collaborate with over 500 organizations in Nassau County to develop and strengthen the food system. CCE of Nassau is looking to expand its partnership with the residents of Nassau County by setting up a 4-H Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.  The goal is to provide members with a true farm to table experience, by sourcing local produce from farms on the east end of Long Island to Nassau County residents.  Shares will be packed and distributed by aspiring 4H entrepreneurs.  The CSA will have delicious produce from Anderson’s Farm, Schmitt’s Family Farm, Briermere Farm, and Early Girl Farm to offer variety in our CSA! We will continue to develop relationships with other local farms to bring the highest quality and most nutritious produce straight from the farm to your plate!

How our CSA works:

Produce will be transported from participating farms to East Meadow Farm and boxes will be assembled by aspiring 4H entrepreneurs. This year in order to include CCE Nassau’s 4-H program we have decided to move on from the market style pickup that was used last year, to a boxed CSA model.  Boxes will be assembled with the freshest produce available by the 4-H Youth.  These teens will gain valuable knowledge on how to run a business.  In our weekly newsletter, You will be informed of what the share will look like for that week. Shares will include a variety of veggies, fruit, and herbs. Eggs will be sold on pickup day to members on a first come first serve basis.

Add-ons - must be paid in full at time of registration

  • Flower Share $15/week bouquets will be picked and assembled by CCE Nassau’s Master Gardeners
  • Taste NY bag $15/week - Each week you will be given a product from our Taste NY Market located at the Long Island Welcome Center in Dix Hills.  All products are locally sourced from small business’s on Long Island. Products that will likely be included: tea, coffee, honey, snacks & baked goods, sauces, soaps, plus more!

There is a $100 min deposit to hold your spot in the CSA. Members must be paid in full by May 15th for the summer session. Payment is non-refundable, however it is transferable, so you can find someone else to take over your share if you need to leave the CSA.
