Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Shooting Sports program will be conducting a 4-H air rifle program on Monday, June 29th from 9:30AM-3:30PM at Kuneytown Sportsmen’s Club, Hoster Road in Seneca Falls, NY.
Children 12 years and older will learn all fundamental safety steps for handling and shooting an air rifle (rifle). All of the necessary equipment will be provided by 4-H for this event. Youth will be also be instructed on how to prepare wild game from the creator of the Wild Harvest Table program (www.wildharvesttable.com). This will be a fun-filled day to start off the summer. A healthy lunch is provided.
The NYS Shooting Sports program utilizes the resources of the land-grant university system and the time, talent and dedication of state and nationally certified Cornell Cooperative Extension educators and 4-H volunteers. Safety is always the primary focus of the program, along with positive youth development skills. The emphasis of all 4-H programs is the development of youth as individuals and as responsible and productive citizens. The activities of the 4-H Shooting Sports program and the support of caring adult leaders provide young people with opportunities to develop life skills, self-worth and conservation ethics. Some of the specific objectives of the program include: teaching self-discipline, problem solving, sportsmanship and appreciation and understanding of natural resources. The shooting sports program is also an opportunity to strengthen families through participation in lifelong recreational activities. We do recommend that a parent or guardian accompany the youth participants whenever possible.
Come join this program in which youth can experience learning that is hands-on, fun and safe. The fee for the program is $5 (to cover lunch) for current Seneca County 4-H members, and $20 for non-members (which includes lunch and a 1 year membership in 4-H).
