Nassau County 4-H Afterschool Program
Fall 2021: November 1, 2021 to December 10, 2021
The 4-H Afterschool programs are a series of six-week long special interest programs that are designed to engage youth in a topic of their choice. Our programs vary with the seasons, so check back often to see what’s new!
Program Details:
4-H Sampler: Mondays, November 1st - December 6th 4:30pm – 6:00pm 3rd - 8th Grade
Not sure what 4-H Program interests you? The 4-H sampler program will give you a taste of some of the current 4-H offering. Examples of topics over the course of the program will be Science, Gardening, Animals, Cooking and Art.
Cost: Each program is $175 per child
Cloverbud Nature Crafts: Tuesdays, November 2nd - December 7th 4:30pm – 5:30pm* *Cloverbud programs are one-hour in length K - 3rd Grade
Make projects from natural items or recycled materials. Explore the environment as you search for different colors, patterns, and textures. Learn to express yourself creatively using items found in nature.
Cost: Each program is $90 per child
Healthy Snacks Club: Wednesdays, November 3rd - December 8th 4:30pm – 6:00pm 3rd - 8th Grade
Do you love food as much as we do? In this workshop series, we will explore basic kitchen skills that you can use to make yummy and nutritious snacks. Topics will include food and kitchen safety, measuring ingredients, reading nutrition labels.
Cost: Each program is $175 per child
Garden-to-Table: Chopped! Thursdays, November 4th - December 16th* *No meeting on Thursday, November 25th 4:30pm - 6:00pm 3rd - 8th Grade
Join one our our Community Nutrition Educators in learning how to create fun and healthy garden-to-table meals! In this program series we will focus on using seasonal produce while learning simple knife skills, food safety, and numerous cooking methods. At the end of the program each student will compete in a Chopped-like competition, crowning someone the Garden-to-Table Chopped Champion!
Cost: Each program is $175 per child
Teen Citizens Fridays, November 5th - December 17th* *No meeting on Friday, November 26th 4:30pm – 6:00pm 7th - 12th Grade
The 4-H Citizenship programs empower young people to be well-informed citizens who are actively engaged in their communities and the world. Youth learn about civic affairs, build decision-making skills and develop a sense of understanding and confidence in relating and connecting to other people.
Cost: Each program is $175 per child
IMPORTANT
Please note that all program participants must wear a face covering throughout the length of the program, regardless of vaccination status. Any program participant or member of their family who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 as defined by the CDC document Symptoms of Coronavirus (COVID-19) will not be permitted to participate in the program until receiving a negative COVID-19 test or completing the required quarantine period.
