Online: Nassau County 4-H Afterschool Program
Session 2: February 15, 2021 to March 25, 2021
The 4-H Afterschool programs are a series of six-week long special interest programs that are designed to engage youth in a topic of their choice. Our programs vary with the seasons, so check back often to see what’s new!
Program Details:
Public Speaking: Mondays, February 15th - March 22nd 5:30pm – 6:30pm 6th - 12th Grade Cost: $175
The ability to clearly communicate an idea to others is a powerful tool. It is a necessary skill that will help you reach many goals in life. Mastering this skill during your 4-H career will give you the advantages needed to succeed in college, business and making positive change in your community. 4-H Public Presentations is a program in which youth learn to create a presentation and develop the skills needed to present it before an audience. You learn about the research process and the steps needed to organize information into an interesting and creative presentation. Participants who want to will get the opportunity to compete in a County Event.
Virtual (No supplies needed)
The Nassau County Public Speaking competition will be on March 27th, 2021. This competition is being planned as an in-person event, but may move to an alternate format if needed. Any participants who are unable to compete in the in-person competition may request an alternate format.
Illustrations: Tuesdays, February 16th - March 23rd 5:30pm – 6:30pm 3rd - 8th Grade Cost: $175
Explore one of the many careers in visual arts by creating your own series of illustrations, guided by a professional illustrator. Go from choosing a text, to defining a layout, sketching roughs, and rendering a final series of artworks. Your final product will be story book ready!

Entrepreneurship: Wednesdays, February 17th - March 24th 5:30pm – 6:30pm 3rd - 8th Grade Cost: $175
Would you like to learn how to run your own business? Learn how to market and sell your own products in this project. Engage with like-minded peers and work through real-world business scenarios.

Eat Smart, Be Active (FREE): Thursdays, February 18th - March 25th 4:00pm – 5:00pm 9th - 12th Grade Cost: FREE
This program is designed to teach teens how to make healthy decisions around nutrition and exercise. This program will teach your teen about physical activity, nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, food preparation (cooking skill development), food safety, and food resource management.
Virtual (No supplies needed)
There is no cost to attend this program. Funding for this program is provided by the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)
Cost: Each program is $175 per child except the Eat Smart, Be Active program.
