Farm & Food Business Start Up Training Thursdays, Oct 26th-Dec 7th (skipping 11/23) 5:30-7pm Zoom
Join Cornell Cooperative Extension Broome County, the Small Business Development Center at Binghamton University (SBDC), and the Small Business Administration, along with guest presenters each week as we explore differerent aspects of a viable farm or food business, and apply it to your own business concept.
During the six weeks we will cover the following:
- Components of a business plan
- Identification of Resources and Subject Matter Experts
- Understanding how to evaluate the viability of your farm or food business concept
- The three financial statements and their importance in operating a successful business
- Identification of potential risks and risk mitigation strategies
- Creating a support network
- Building your toolbox
Guest presenters will include:
- farm accountant
- agricultural lender
- lawyer
- insurance/risk management, and
- a panel of established farm and food businesses.
FSA borrower training credits application under review.
Cost: $75/farm, includes Entreskills tool, access to experts, and confidential consultations with both CCE Broome and the SBDC for up to one year. Payment must be received to hold spot. Refunds only available up to one week prior to the start of the series.
