Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County will be hosting a free virtual workshop on Thursday, March 24th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Come learn about the significance of soil health and how building quality soils on your farm can result in both economic and environmental benefits. This workshop will be based on the recent publication of the 4th edition, “Building Soils for Better Crops” (2021), written by Dr. Fred Magdoff and Dr. Harold van Es. Topics will include the following: 1) learn more about soil health and why it matters, 2) learn the physical proprieties of soil and the carbon/nutrient cycle, 3) learn the ecological principles and practices that help promote soil health, and 4) learn how to evaluate soil health on your farm.
Guest speakers will be Dr. Harold van Es, Professor of Soil and Water Management at Cornell University, and Joseph Amsili, Extension Associate with the Cornell Soil Health Program. Registration is required to attend. This virtual workshop is open to all members of the general public.
